Recently, the AHEAD students visited the University of Adelaide to participate in workshops delivered by the Teaching, Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Social Work, and Occupational Therapy departments. The students found the sessions both informative and engaging, gaining valuable insights into each of the professions.
Clontarf State of Origin 2026 Squad Selection 🏈
A huge congratulations to Zeke and Deshon on their selection of the State of Origin Squad for 2026!
The boys will have a final training session at the start of term 4 where the final team selections will be made.
Their selections were due to not only their skill on the field, but their engagement in the Clontarf Academy, along with their positive attitudes towards their education.

Here’s a look back at some of the action from today! 📸
Earlier this year, students were given the opportunity to enter a design into the Mental Health Matters Round, a competition to create soccer jerseys for local teams to wear. This is an important event which is hosted in the community to raise the awareness of mental health and how to seek support.
We are delighted to announce that two Whyalla Secondary College designs were selected by local soccer teams, which will be used in the rounds to come in future years.
Congratulations to both Lilli-anne and Emma on your outstanding designs.

We are pleased to share that Tuesday morning’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student Voice Forum was a success! We had 64 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from all year levels, Spencer Gulf and Flexible Learning attend and actively participate, providing valuable insights that will guide our ongoing work towards SA Curriculum implementation.
We would also like to thank our ASETO team, Shooting Stars, and Clontarf for their outstanding support in preparing and encouraging students to attend.
The feedback we received will be instrumental as we design future learning for all students at Whyalla Secondary College.

🌱✨ Last week, Whyalla Secondary College was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated National Science Week! This year’s theme, “Seeds of Science,” sprouted curiosity and hands-on fun across our school.
Students delved into the wonders of seed germination and got creative by making their own quirky cress heads during Care Group. Throughout the week, the energy was high with a series of DIY science experiments at recess and lunch—including Ninja Ruler Snap, Rainbow Skittles, Shouting Bowl, Red Cabbage Indicator, and the mysterious Invisible Fire Extinguisher. There was something exciting for everyone to try!
A highlight for our Year 7 and 8 students was the “Time for Tech!” livestream incursion—a fast-paced, interactive STEM sketch comedy show that brought science to life. Students were taken on an inspiring journey through how science and technology can shape a sustainable future.
