๐จ GRAND OPENING โ WESTLANDS MURAL ๐จ
We are excited to announce the grand opening of two large murals at Westlands Shopping Centre next Tuesday 27 October!
These murals are the result of a wonderful collaboration between artist @althea.mallee.artist and our FLEX students.
Our students have been busy painting for the past two weeks and we are very proud to share their work with the Whyalla community.
Please join us from 9.30am to 11.00am at the Kmart entrance of Westlands.
CLONTARF SOCCER CARNIVAL ๐ฅ

During September Whyalla hosted the Cuttlefish Cup. The Cuttlefish Cup is a Clontarf Carnival which provides an opportunity for all South Australian academies to compete against each other. There were 10 teams participating and all 10 competed with great Clontarf Spirit. Guest referee Sandro Parisi said the young men were โgreat sports and respectful throughout the dayโ.
The competition was tight and results were close, but the grand final was eventually decided when Whyalla went up against Port Pirie, with Whyalla winning in a thrilling 6 goals to 5. The Ballon Dโor best bloke was a young man from Berri named Jesse. Jesse exemplified the Clontarf good bloke the best throughout the day.
Clontarf appreciated the support from Whyalla Secondary College Principal Tricia Richman and her staff for attending. Also, Deputy Mayor Tamy Pond, Hincks Avenue staff and students and Lions Soccer Club Junior Coordinator Gordon Worsnop for all their help on the day.

๐จ Mural Project | Week 1 ๐จ
What an amazing start to our Westlands mural project with @althea.mallee.artist ๐ฌ๐
Our students have been getting hands-on, bringing the design to life and beginning to transform the space into something very special. From sketching out the design to getting stuck into the painting, it has been great to see everyone contributing, trying new things and working together to create something meaningful for our school community.
Weโre excited to see this come together over the next couple of weeks and canโt wait to share the progress with you all! You can see the mural at the Kmart entrance of Westlands๐จ๐

In week 10 of term 3, the year 11/12 CHAT students visited Adelaide for their Tourism Camp. As part of an assessment, students needed to plan the camp and then reflect on it back at school ๐ข๐
They visited the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, the Adelaide Gaol, the International College of Hotel Management, the Central Markets, Rundle Mall, Glenelg, and the Adelaide Zoo. Throughout different tours, they needed to connect with someone on the tour as part of another assignment. They also ate out, trying cuisines such as Thai and Italian.
Our year 9 students recently visited Port Lincoln for their Aquatics and Adventure Camp โบ๐
The students enjoyed different activities such as visiting Glen Forest Animal Park, sandboarding at Port Lincoln National Park, to taking part teambuilding activities such as bubble soccer, sumo suit wrestling, archery tag. Students also developed their aquatic skills in fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding.
Students have been getting hands-on, building on their existing skills and learning new ones across a range of exciting pathways during VET Block Week. From lathe operations in Engineering, control circuit wiring in Electrotechnology, bricklaying in Construction, to continuing Automotive Servicing practices and preparing incredible dishes in Cooking including roast duck with wild salad, chicken pรขtรฉ and ribs- there has been plenty happening! ๐๐๏ธ๐งฑโ๏ธ๐งฐ๐งโ๐ณ
Our Health Services Assistance students also completed valuable industry learning in their first aid course while our Early Childhood students have been reflecting on their week by creating posters on their knowledge.
With one more VET Block Week still to come, we canโt wait to see our students continue to grow in confidence, skills and industry knowledge! ๐
