Before joining Whyalla Secondary College, I worked for the last 10 years in a large public school in Adelaide’s northern suburbs. Outside of education, you can find me on a basketball court. This has been a passion of mine since the age of 12, and the court is my second home. It’s not just about the game; it’s about the camaraderie, the competition, and having fun. One of my greatest passions is exploring the world. I’ve been fortunate to set foot in over 30 countries so far and am wanting to discover more. Whether it’s immersing myself in different cultures, savouring local cuisines, or adventuring through diverse landscapes, each journey adds a new chapter to my life. As we step into 2024, I’m most excited about the potential for new adventures and experiences. I’m looking forward to exploring Whyalla and the local areas, through working within a wonderful country community. You might think you’re seeing double, but you’re not; that is my sister, don’t get us confused you’ll soon figure out I am the more stylish one.

My name is Melissa Kober, I am the Year 12, Industry Pathways Programs and Student Pathways leader at the college. I have taught in Whyalla for the past 9 years in the Home Economics and Tech subject areas. I am looking forward to supporting the year 12 students as they complete their schooling and support students in years 7-12 to explore future career pathways. Away from the college I enjoy cooking, gardening and spending time at the beach. This year I am excited to teaching the Cookery, Hospitality and Tourism (CHAT) IPP to year 11 and 12 students. I look forward to meeting you all throughout the year.

Hello Everyone, I am the Year 11 leader for 2024 and will also be teaching Universal Reasoning. This is my second year at Whyalla Secondary College. Previously I have been in a variety of schools in Adelaide and have taught in many different primary and high school settings. This year I am looking forward to working collaboratively with Rebecca Ramm (Year 11/12 Assistant Principal) and Mel Kober (Senior Leader Student Pathways). I am also looking forward to working with all the staff, families and communities at Whyalla Secondary College in 2024. My favourite things to do is read a good novel, researching, driving, exploring and recently looking at my family history, as my Mum was born here.
