Hi, my name is Anthony Broekx and I am teaching year 10 Science and maths as well as Science in Spencer Gulf (year 9 & 10). I love fishing, sport and the gym in my spare time. Originally from Port Pirie, I have decided to make Whyalla my home because of my desire to return to the country after 20 years living in Adelaide. As a new teacher I am excited about the future and the prospect of providing inspiration to the future generations of this great country/state/town

Hi, my name is Chris Cordingley and this will be my fifth year of teaching Maths and Science. I am passionate about the environment, science and playing sports (mainly volleyball); and can’t walk past a good coffee. I will always try to contextualise learning and make it hands-on, as this is more fun for both me and my students, and I look forward to working with the AHEAD and year 9 cohorts this year!

I am Sai and I will be teaching Year 7 Universal Reasoning – Science and Mathematics. I am also mentoring Year 12 students for 2024. I moved from Adelaide last year and I am loving to be part of the Whyalla community and the pristine environment. As far as my qualifications are concerned, I have completed my post graduation in Science with a bachelor of Education degree. I have worked in various capacities in Australia and overseas. I value education and extra-curricular activities which moulds an individual’s character and enhances skills and abilities. As a child, I participated in every opportunity my school provided, be it Air Cadet or Scout and Guide, to name a few. The challenges I overcame while trying to reach greater heights made me a resilient person. With a spirit of ‘nothing is impossible’, I execute each day’s tasks. It is an opportunity for me to inculcate these qualities and values in students. I acknowledge the specialities of each student and looking forward to collaborating with families to aid children to reach the expected outcome.

Hello, my name is Shannon Upton. I am currently undertaking a Special Authority to Teach (SAT) position at Whyalla Secondary College. As a SAT Teacher from midway through Term 2 I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far Whyalla Secondary College. I have recently moved up from Adelaide and love life in Whyalla, it is a great place to live and be apart of. With a large passion for science I have been trained in Chemistry and Biology and teach Universal Reasoning. Teaching Science and Maths is something I love to do and my habit to often talk about/state science facts can come as a slightly annoying habit to friends and family. Away from Science and Maths I love to surf, fish and camp; recently exploring the west of the Eyre Peninsula has solidified my enjoyment for this wonderful area and all the excitement it has to offer
