Hi everyone.  My name is Jill Evans and I’ll be teaching in the Year 8 Global Perspectives and Literacy & Numeracy for Life areas.  2024 marks the sixth year that I’ve been teaching, and the second that I’ve been here at Whyalla Secondary College.  When I’m not educating young minds, you can find me at home with my husband and our two cats, Garrus and Shepard (named after my two favourite Mass Effect characters).  I’ve rediscovered my love for reading, as well as puzzles.  I also support Port Adelaide FC, Adelaide 36ers, and watching WWE.  I’m looking forward to teaching in the Year 8 space and getting to know all of my students.

Hello, my name is Jeremy Head (Mr Head), I am teaching Year 8 Universal Reasoning (Maths and Science) this year. I am continuing in year 8 this year, with 2024 being my third year at Whyalla Secondary College. I get excited by learning and seeing young people challenge themselves to grow as learners and discover themselves as people. I continue to challenge myself to continually learn and apply my learning to my school and personal life.  This is something I also encourage my students to do. I see my role as a teacher to provide students with the skills to be as successful as possible in school and life. Hello, my name is Georgina Wedding and I am currently a fourth year University student teaching Year 8 Global Perspectives. I absolutely love teaching English and HASS which is why I am so excited to teach this year. Previously working as an SSO at Whyalla Secondary College, I have had the opportunity to work with various learning abilities in different year levels. I hope my teaching brings joy to the students!

Hello! I am passionate about the performing arts, having previously completed an undergrad at Flinders Drama Centre followed by a Masters in Teaching, and am excited to share this with my students. I believe the performing arts equips students with not only industry specific skills, but also the critical and creative thinking needed in all industries. I am excited to be teaching the performing arts across the middle school in 2024. When I’m not at school you can catch me cross-stitching, ballroom dancing, playing video games, and most importantly, chasing my 2-year-old around the park.

Hello everyone, my name is Sabrina Stallon-Gibbs and I have the pleasure of taking the role as Year 8 Leader for 2024. I am also very excited to be supporting students that will be engaging in our new self-paced learning units this year. I have been teaching in Whyalla for the past 5 years working mostly as a Year 8 teacher of Mathematics and Science. I strive my best to support staff and students in achieving successful outcomes despite any challenges that may arise. Outside of school I keep myself busy by spending time with my beautiful daughter Alyssia who will be turning 3 this year. I have also developed a love and interest in baking and cannot wait for my daughter’s third birthday where I will spend many stressful hours decorating her birthday cake to her standards, I look forward to meeting you all throughout the year and spending time getting to know our Year 8’s for 2024.

I am currently in my eighth year of teaching, though initially primary based, I am in my second year of being a secondary educator. During my free time I enjoy watching sports, especially AFL and cricket. I also enjoy reading, camping and spending time at the beach.
