My Name is Georgie Christian, and I am very excited to be continuing at Whyalla Secondary College in 2024 as the year 9/10 Assistant Principal. Though I am originally from Adelaide, I began my teaching career in Port Pirie where I worked for 8 years at John Pirie Secondary School, teaching Maths and Science. In 2017 I expanded my skills and knowledge as the Maths and Science Coordinator, I continued in this role for 5 years at John Pirie Secondary School and 1 year at Gawler and District college. Last year Whyalla became home as I got to know the school and wider community and explored the local and surrounding sites with my family. One of my favourite things about being an educator is seeing the growth that students make both academically and personally throughout the years. Working with them to learn, achieve success, and grow as individuals is a privilege. Outside of school I enjoy walking with my dog, camping or hiking trips with friends and family, and exploring the beautiful sites that SA and Australia has to offer. I also like to challenge myself to take new opportunities and get outside of my comfort zone, which has often led discovering new activities I really enjoy like skiing, sandboarding, skydiving or shark cage diving. 2023’s personal challenge was taking a leap of faith and bungee jumping in Cairns.

Hello, my name is Lachlan Combes, and I am the Year 9 Coordinator once again in 2024. I am excited to see what the Year 9 students can achieve this year as they look to transition through middle school. This year I will teach a variety of subjects within Year 9 as well as in the Body and Mind faculty teaching Stage 1 and 2 Outdoor Education. Outside of school I love playing and watching sport, particularly football and golf, as well as running around with my two dogs. I look forward to working to get the best out of our students and inspiring them to reach their goals.

Hi! I’m Scott King, I have been teaching since 2014 and at Whyalla Secondary College since it opened. This year I am the Year 10 Leader and will be teaching each core subject as well as a brand-new SACE subject called Exploring Identities and Futures. Previously, I have taught Body and Mind to years 7-8 and a mix of subjects within years 9-12 including Health, Recreational PE and Specialist PE. In my spare time I coach for the Whyalla Steelers and Titans Basketball Clubs and enjoy golf when I get the time. This year I am looking forward to working with a singular year level to support students to achieve at their best and provide them with opportunities to grow.
